When Do Postgraduate Courses Start in the UK?
UK postgraduate programmes are offered across three intakes, each suited to different timelines and circumstances.
The September intake is the primary entry point for most master's programmes. It offers the greatest variety of courses and universities, and the majority of Indian students begin their postgraduate journey at this time of year.
The January intake is a well-established alternative for students who are not in a position to begin in September. While the range of programmes is narrower, a strong selection of courses is still accessible across reputable institutions.
The May intake is available at a limited number of universities and carries a more restricted selection of programmes. Students considering this intake are advised to confirm availability with specific institutions before proceeding.
Regardless of intake, most universities hold orientation sessions in the days leading up to the start of term, giving international students time to settle in and prepare before their academic session starts.
Short Note:
"Indian students planning for postgraduate study in the UK should start preparing at least 6 to 12 months in advance to meet deadlines and secure admission."
