About Robert Gordon University

Robert Gordon University, also known as RGU, is a public university in Aberdeen, Scotland. Its origins go back to the mid-18th century, when Robert Gordon, an Aberdeen merchant, left his estate to found an educational institution for the city. It became a technical college in 1910, developed into an institute of technology in 1965, and gained full university status in 1992. Today, RGU has over 18,000 students enrolled from more than 152 countries, and has a single modern campus in Garthdee, in the south-west of the city.

The university delivers industry-led undergraduate and postgraduate degrees developed in collaboration with employers, ensuring strong relevance to current professional demands. Teaching and research are supported across multiple academic schools, with a focus on innovation and real-world impact. With over £120 million invested in state-of-the-art buildings, specialist laboratories, and collaborative learning spaces, students benefit from a high-quality environment that supports academic success and practical skill development, preparing them for careers in the UK and globally.
