About Teesside University
Teesside University is a public university with its main campus in the heart of Middlesbrough, North East England. Its origins trace back to 1930, when it opened as Constantine Technical College, named after local shipping magnate Joseph Constantine, who provided the founding donation. It became Teesside Polytechnic in 1969 and was formally granted university status in 1992. Today, the university welcomes more than 25,000 students from over 100 countries across its campuses in Middlesbrough and London, and is backed by a £300 million investment programme that has transformed its campus into one of the most modern and well-equipped university environments in the north of England.
Teesside has built a strong national reputation over recent years, earning recognition that places it among the leading modern universities in the UK. It was named University of the Year by Times Higher Education in November 2025 and Daily Mail Modern University of the Year 2026, making it the first university to hold both titles simultaneously.
Why Teesside University for Indian Students?
Teesside is a strong and practical choice for Indian students looking for a career-focused UK degree with excellent graduate support, modern facilities, and a lower cost of living than most major UK cities. Middlesbrough is an affordable place to live, with accommodation, food, and transport costs well below those in London and many other English university cities. A London campus is also available for students who prefer to study in the capital.
The university offers a guaranteed £2,500 scholarship as a fee waiver for all international students joining Teesside University London, and a range of additional scholarships and bursaries are available for students at the Middlesbrough campus. Many courses include optional paid placement years, and graduate internship programmes are available to help recent graduates gain professional experience after finishing their degree.
