About University College Birmingham

University College Birmingham, commonly known as UCB, is a public university located in the heart of Birmingham city centre. Its origins go back to the 19th century as part of Birmingham's Municipal Technical School, and the university was officially opened in 1968 as the Birmingham College of Food and Domestic Arts. It was granted full university status in 2012, and some of its degrees are accredited by the University of Warwick, one of the UK's leading research universities. Today, UCB has around 10,000 students from over 70 countries, all based on a single city-centre campus on Summer Row with a postgraduate centre on nearby George Street.
