About University of East Anglia

University of East Anglia, also known as UEA, is a public research university that was established in 1963 in Norwich, England. The university’s 360-acre parkland campus offers a self-contained and green environment located just two miles from the city centre, with everything students need within easy reach. UEA has four faculties and twenty-six schools of study, and is home to over 17,500 students from more than 120 countries, creating a diverse and international learning environment.

The university is known for its strong focus on interdisciplinary learning, research-led teaching, and student experience, with modern academic facilities, extensive green spaces, and a vibrant campus community. UEA is also a leading member of Norwich Research Park, one of Europe’s largest communities of researchers in the fields of environment, agriculture, genomics, and health, with four independent research institutes and a teaching hospital based on or near the campus.

Why the University of East Anglia for Indian Students?

UEA offers Indian students a research-strong, academically well-regarded university experience in a safe, affordable, and genuinely enjoyable city. Norwich is consistently rated one of the most affordable and liveable places to study in England, and the cost of living is considerably lower than in London or many southern university cities.

Indian students additionally benefit from scholarships, dedicated regional support teams based in India, and personalised guidance throughout the application process. UEA’s supportive campus culture, strong employability focus, and access to academic English support programmes make it a comfortable and rewarding destination for students looking to study and build a future in the UK.

Campus Life

UEA's campus is one of the most distinctive in the UK. The 1960s Brutalist architecture of the Lasdun Wall gives it a character that is immediately recognisable, set within a nine-time Green Flag award-winning parkland that runs down to the River Yare. The Students' Union has an outstanding reputation for live music and events, and the campus has an art gallery, a £30 million Sportspark, a cinema, cafes, and a wide range of social and cultural spaces. Norwich city centre, with its medieval streets, independent shops, restaurants, and nightlife, is a short bus ride away, and the Norfolk Broads and coastline are easily reachable for weekends.

Library & Learning

The UEA library provides extensive print and digital collections across all subject areas, with specialist academic databases and 24/7 study spaces.

Sports Centre

UEA’s Sportspark offers excellent sports and fitness facilities, including an Olympic-size swimming pool, gym, athletics track, and many sports clubs and fitness classes.

Cafés & Restaurants

The campus has a range of cafés, bars, and food outlets serving meals, snacks, and drinks throughout the day.

Entertainment

The UEA Students' Union has a well-established reputation for live music and events, hosting concerts, club nights, and cultural evenings throughout the year.

Student Societies

UEA has over 200 active clubs and societies through the Students' Union, covering sports, academic subjects, cultural interests, performing arts, and social causes.

International Community

With over 3,600 international students from more than 120 countries, UEA has a genuinely diverse and welcoming campus community.
