About University of Salford

The University of Salford is a public university in Salford, Greater Manchester, located just one mile from Manchester city centre. Its roots go back to 1850, with the formal Royal Technical Institute opening in 1896, and it has been a full university since 1967. Today, it is home to around 23,000 students, and is spread across three campuses: the main Peel Park Campus and the Frederick Road campus nearby, and a dedicated campus at MediaCity in Salford Quays. It is the only university in the UK with a campus at MediaCity, which is home to the BBC, ITV, and a thriving community of media and technology businesses.

Salford has a strong focus on industry-connected learning. The university works directly with businesses and organisations across all sectors to shape its courses, and many programmes include placements, live projects, and opportunities to work with industry partners during the degree.

The university provides a welcoming and culturally comfortable environment for Indian students, with a strong South Asian presence in the region. From Indian restaurants and grocery stores to places of worship and cultural events, students can easily find a sense of familiarity and belonging. A highlight is the iconic Curry Mile, known for its vibrant mix of Indian eateries and shops, making it easier to stay connected to home while building a global future.

Campus Life

Salford's main Peel Park Campus has a green, attractive environment right next to one of the oldest public parks in the world, with the River Irwell running alongside.
