About University of Wales Trinity Saint David

University of Wales Trinity Saint David is one of the oldest and most historic universities in the UK, with roots dating back to 1822 through the founding of St David’s College at Lampeter, recognised as the birthplace of higher education in Wales. The university was formally established in its current form in 2010 through the merger of the University of Wales Lampeter and Trinity University College Carmarthen, later expanding further with the addition of Swansea Metropolitan University in 2013.

UWTSD holds the oldest Royal Charter in Wales and England outside the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, combining nearly 200 years of academic heritage with a modern and career-focused approach to higher education. Today, the university operates across multiple campuses, including Swansea, Carmarthen, Lampeter, Cardiff, London, and Birmingham, offering students a supportive learning environment built around practical learning, industry engagement, small class sizes, and strong graduate outcomes.
