When Do Postgraduate Courses Start in the UK?
UK universities offer postgraduate programmes across three main entry periods, allowing Kenyan students to choose the intake that best suits their academic plans and personal schedule.
The September intake is the largest and most popular option, with the greatest choice of master's courses and universities. Many Kenyan students apply during this period because it provides wider course availability, more scholarship opportunities, and full access to student support services, societies, and campus events.
The January intake is a suitable alternative for students who miss the September deadline or need additional preparation time. While the selection of courses is smaller, many respected UK universities still offer quality master's programmes, especially in business, computing, engineering, and other career-focused subjects.
The May intake is available at a limited number of universities and covers fewer postgraduate programmes. Students interested in this entry period should check directly with their chosen university to confirm that their preferred course is available before submitting an application.
Before teaching begins, universities arrange orientation activities to help international students become familiar with campus facilities, academic expectations, student support services, and life in the UK, making the transition to postgraduate study much smoother.
