About Southampton Solent University
Southampton Solent University is based in Southampton, a port city on England's south coast tied to shipping for centuries. The university grew out of a school of art that opened in 1856, later integrating with the College of Technology and the College of Nautical Studies to become one at Warsash before gaining university status in 2005.
That maritime DNA still runs through Southampton. Warsash Maritime School is one of the few sailor training centres of its kind in the world. Teaching there is grounded in real work, with live briefs, employer-set projects, and guest lectures. More than 10,500 students from different countries study at Southampton Solent University.
