About University of Chester
The University of Chester has real history: it opened in 1839 as the first purpose-built teacher-training college in the whole of England. It became a full university in 2005 and now teaches around 14,000 students in one of the country's prettiest cities, a Roman walled town in the north-west.
Chester is best known for education, nursing, health studies and its 2024 award-winning business school. Learning here is mostly practical, with placements and a TEF Silver award behind it. Above all, Chester is known for looking after its international students.
Why University of Chester for Kenyan Students
One of the catchy things about the University of Chester is that students voted it the UK's best university for international study two years in a row.
The city itself was named Britain's most welcoming in 2025; the fees are modest, and the institution openly accepts KCSE results. For a Kenyan student, that arrangement is one of the best anyone can get.
