When Do Postgraduate Degree Courses Start in the UK?

UK postgraduate courses start three times a year. September is the busiest intake, giving Nigerian students access to most courses and scholarship opportunities. 

January works well for students who need extra time to sort documents or retake an English language test, with around 30 to 40 universities offering master's programmes at this intake. 

May is rarely available for postgraduate courses and only covers a limited number of programmes at a small number of universities. 

It is important that Nigerian students are aware of all this information and regularly check their course page to confirm which intakes are available before making any plans.

Short Note: 

Those planning for a postgraduate degree in the UK should start preparing at least nine to twelve months before their intended intake to allow enough time for applications, English language tests, visa processing, and travel arrangements.

What Is the CAS Timeline for Postgraduate Students in the UK?

The timeline for CAS is one to three months before the course begins. This gives students a reasonable time to get themselves together. 

It comes after students have accepted their offer (conditional or unconditional), met all academic requirements and paid the compulsory tuition deposit. 

This CAS number is used to apply for a student UK visa, which takes about three to four weeks of processing time. 

Short Note:

Nigerian students should have proof of funds, degree transcripts, and English language certificates ready before the CAS arrives to avoid delays at this critical stage of the process.
