About Cardiff Metropolitan University
Cardiff Metropolitan University is a student-friendly university located in the Welsh capital (Cardiff, Wales). It is a calm and interesting university with a practical heritage dating back to 1865, when it was founded as the Cardiff School of Art.
In 1976, the school merged with many institutions, including Cardiff College of Education, the College of Food Technology and Commerce, and Llandaff College of Technology, to form the mighty South Glamorgan Institute of Higher Education.
Ten years later, it became the University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC). And in 2011, it changed its name to Cardiff Metropolitan University after withdrawing from the University of Wales.
