The university’s campuses stand out for their unique location in UNESCO World Heritage sites. Its Ambleside campus is in the English Lake District, giving students the chance to study in a serene natural environment, while the Brampton Road campus is located adjacent to Hadrian’s Wall in Carlisle, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Frontiers of the Roman Empire.

The majority of Cumbria graduates begin working as soon as they are prepared for their post-study careers. All students are enrolled in the university's My Career Enriched platform, which gives them access to online job boards, one-on-one career coaching, skill assessments, interview preparation sessions, CV and application reviews, and more. It serves as a central location for students to complete their employability requirements. Even after graduation, students can still use these services for free.

Additionally, the school frequently hosts industry events, conferences, webinars, and career fairs to introduce students to both domestic and foreign job opportunities.

Accommodation options range from shared space and en-suite options in on-campus residences or approved off-campus options. For international students, accommodation is booked before travelling.
